Summer of Ethics! CEU Series starts in June! I'm also working on creating an "on demand" library for trainings so join my mailing list if you want to be notified when it is ready!
This workshop is designed to teach participants how to use trial-based functional analyses within school settings. Given empirical evidence repeatedly suggests that indirect and descriptive assessments are unreliable predictors of behavioral function, it is critical that behavior analysts working in schools are well-versed in functional analysis methodologies that can be realistically applied in school settings. Trial-based functional analyses are a wonderful option for balancing true analysis procedures which are empirically supported for function identification and practicality of use.
Participants will learn the logic behind trial-based functional analyses, how to design trial-based functional analyses with minimal disruption to student and teacher schedules, when trial-based functional analyses are appropriate for use, how to implement trial-based functional analyses, and how to collect and interpret trial-based functional analysis data. Participants will also learn how to discuss trial-based functional analyses with stakeholders who may not be familiar with analysis procedures or who may be resistant to such analyses. Participants will work through several example cases and apply what they have learned regarding trial-based functional analyses to complete mock cases. The workshop includes almost 4 hours of recorded content. Recorded sessions will be released within 48 hours of payment being received. Participants will earn 4.5 BACB general learning continuing education credits for consuming the recorded content.
In addition to the trial-based functional analysis content, participants will also be given access to optional recorded trainings from 2023 on Tier I and Tier II functional behavior assessments (each training is worth 1.0 BACB general learning continuing education credits) at no additional charge. Finally, as another optional/additional content you will be given access to a 2024 presentation reviewing Weber et al. 2024 an FA outcomes study through the lens of a school based behavior analyst (also worth 1.0 BACB general learning continuing education credits).
Participants will sign up for 1 of 3 live 2-hour sessions (125 minutes which translates to 2.5 BACB general learning CEUs). Sessions will be capped at 10 participants in order to maximize active learning opportunities for those who attend (more sessions will be added if demands suggests they are needed). During the live session, participants will work as a team to complete mock trial-based functional analysis cases. Participants will be given general information and then work through each step of the trial-based functional analysis starting with interviewing staff, determine what the trials will look like, determining when the trials will be run, analyzing data from the mock trials, and interpreting the data. Active participation during the live session is highly recommended in order to get the most out of the learning experience.
Option #1: Friday October 18, 2024 11:00 am - 1:05 pm (central time)
Option #2: Thursday October 24, 2024 3:30 pm - 5:35 pm (central time)
Option #3: Tuesday October 29, 2024 5:00 pm - 7:05 pm (central time)
Finally, after completing the workshop you will be invited to attend a monthly community group focused on FBA/TBFA in schools to provide you ongoing support and mentorship as you use what you learn in practice. It is free to attend the monthly meetings with the option of purchasing CEUs for $10 each time (for 1.0 general learning CEUs).
The cost of the workshop is $200 per participant. In total, workshop participants who complete all recordings and attend a live session will earn 7.0 BACB general learning CEUs (10.0 if they consume the optional/additional recorded trainings provided).
